The European Union’s REPowerEU Plan, for example, aims for a 45% share of energy generation from renewables by 2030. Despite this progress, the integration of intermittent energy sources remains problematic due to their variability, which can lead to grid instability. Issues such as supply-demand imbalances, congestion, and voltage or frequency instability need effective management strategies.
Distributed Energy Resources (DER) offer a solution by decentralizing energy production. This approach reduces the strain on centralized grids and provides localized generation, thus decreasing transmission losses and enhancing grid stability. The Way Forward
Supported by Business Finland, Solnet Manager is set to launch in Finland in 2024. The program aims to significantly impact the solar energy landscape by integrating diverse utilities into balance market participation. Following its initial rollout, Solnet plans to expand the program to the Netherlands, Germany, and eventually throughout Europe.
