Mapal Unveils Advanced Aluminium Machining Solutions at AMB 2024

by Anna

At this year’s AMB trade fair in Stuttgart, Mapal is showcasing its cutting-edge aluminium machining technology under the theme “Empower Your Aluminium Machining.” The tool manufacturer will occupy a prominent 390-square-meter exhibit space in Hall 1, Stand C11.

A highlight of Mapal’s presentation is its patent-pending bayonet-like connection system for milling cutter heads. This innovative design simplifies tool changes with its easy handling, robust connection, and efficient cooling capabilities. The system allows users to insert, rotate by 90 degrees, and securely lock the replaceable head, offering greater rigidity and improved force distribution compared to traditional threaded systems.

One of the key innovations featured is the new holder design with integrated cooling channels. This design enhances cooling efficiency by directing coolant directly to the cutting edges, thus extending tool life and improving machining quality. The increased rigidity of the milling heads results in better form and position tolerances, smoother processes, and longer tool longevity.

Additionally, Mapal is debuting a spot facing tool equipped with a patented micro-stop cage, specifically designed for aircraft assembly. This tool addresses the need to create electrically conductive connections between parts by removing paint from drill bore areas. Unlike traditional brushes, the micro-stop cage tool performs spot facing, countersinking, chamfering, and deburring with high precision and durability. Its long service life and ability to replace hundreds of brushes make it both reliable and cost-effective. An optional dust extraction system enhances its utility when machining composites.

Mapal’s innovations underscore its commitment to advancing machining technology and meeting the evolving needs of its customers across various industries.
