Nevo Launches E07 Electric SUV-Pickup Hybrid in China

by Anna

Changan’s subsidiary Nevo has introduced the E07 model in the Chinese market, available as both a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). A standout feature of the E07 is its ability to convert from an SUV to a pickup truck with an open cargo area at the push of a button.

Nevo targets private customers in China seeking an electric pickup, a market that faces unique challenges. In China, pickups are classified as light commercial vehicles, which come with numerous restrictions compared to SUVs. As a result, most available pickups are designed primarily for corporate use.

The E07’s hybrid design allows it to be registered as a passenger car while offering pickup versatility. However, its cargo bed has a limited load capacity of 300 kilograms, raising questions about its practicality as both an SUV and a pickup.

The E07 offers three battery-electric options: the base model features a 165 kW rear motor, while a more powerful 252 kW single-motor version is also available. The all-wheel-drive variant combines a rear motor with a 188 kW front motor, achieving a total output of 440 kW. Buyers can choose between two battery packs: a 70.5 kWh LFP pack or a 90 kWh NMC battery, providing a range of 551 to 651 kilometers based on the Chinese CLTC standard.

For the range extender version, two drive configurations are offered. The single-motor option has a 231 kW rear motor, while the dual-motor version includes a 131 kW front motor. Both configurations feature a 39 kWh LFP battery, allowing for a range of 230 kilometers. When combined with a 110 kW 1.5-liter petrol engine, the total range extends to 1,130 kilometers.

Measuring 5.05 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 1.64 meters high, the E07 has a wheelbase of 3.12 meters and seats five across two rows. The design includes a sharply sloping roofline behind the rear seats, creating space for the pickup area. Inside, the vehicle features a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, with a 28.8-inch head-up display replacing the traditional cockpit display.

Pricing for the Nevo E07 BEV starts at 199,900 yuan (approximately €25,920) for the base ‘Air’ model, while the top-tier ‘Ultra’ variant is priced at 319,900 yuan (€41,480). The EREV model does not include the base ‘Air’ option, with prices for higher trims ranging from 209,900 to 299,900 yuan (€27,220 to €38,890), making them 20,000 yuan cheaper than their BEV counterparts.
