In response to the severe floods that have devastated Valencia, Formula E has announced a change in plans for its upcoming pre-season tests. The organization expressed deep concern for those affected by the floods, stating, “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by these terrible events. We are exploring ways to support the region during this difficult time.”
After consultations with local authorities, the FIA, and representatives from Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Formula E has decided to cancel the pre-season test originally scheduled for November 4-7 in Valencia. While it may have been logistically feasible to proceed, the priority is to avoid distractions and allocate resources to support the local community. The organization thanked Formula E team members who have been actively assisting in Valencia over the past week.
The pre-season test is a crucial part of the FIA ABB Formula E World Championship calendar, allowing for safety checks on the new GEN3 Evo cars and the effective deployment of new technologies. Notably, the event was also set to include the first-ever Women’s Test.
As a result, Formula E has secured an alternative venue: Circuito del Jarama in Madrid. The FIA Formula E Official Test and Women’s Test will now take place from November 5 to 8. A full event schedule will be provided soon as the organization navigates various logistical and operational challenges to facilitate the move to Madrid.
Formula E reiterated its commitment to Valencia, stating, “The city holds a special place in our hearts. It has been a part of our calendar since 2017, and we have recently established our operations base there. We aim to support the community in its recovery and ensure that while testing continues in Madrid, it is conducted with the utmost sensitivity.”
