CFAO Equipment, a subsidiary of CFAO Nigeria, has unveiled its range of compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered buses and trucks, offering sustainable alternatives to traditional fuel-powered vehicles in Nigeria.
At a recent workshop organized by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in Lagos, CFAO Equipment showcased two of its CNG-powered products—the King Long bus and Sinotruk Howo truck. The event, focused on the theme “CNG/LPG/EV Initiative: Challenges, Sustainability, Opportunities, and Alternatives to Fossil Fuels in Nigeria,” attracted key stakeholders, including automotive journalists, Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), and representatives from the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC).
Caleb Bamidele, Sales Manager at CFAO Equipment, highlighted the economic and environmental benefits of CNG-powered vehicles, explaining that they offer cost-effective solutions while reducing harmful emissions.
King Long CNG Bus: A Green Alternative for Public Transport
The 7-meter King Long CNG bus is designed to ease financial pressures on both transporters and commuters. Equipped with four 80-litre CNG cylinders, the bus provides ample fuel capacity and reduces the need for frequent refueling, making it an efficient option for various transportation services, including commercial transport, school shuttles, and staff buses.
With a 25+1 passenger capacity, the bus is powered by a YC4D140N-50 engine, which adheres to Euro V emission standards, ensuring fuel efficiency and a reduction in pollution from traditional petrol and diesel engines. Its 7,000 kg Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) makes it suitable for both city and inter-city travel, offering a versatile solution for private and public transport needs across Nigeria. The King Long bus comes with a 12-month or 100,000-kilometer warranty, reflecting CFAO’s commitment to reliable and sustainable transport solutions.
Sinotruk Howo CNG Truck: Built for Tough Terrain
CFAO Equipment also presented the CNG-powered Sinotruk Howo truck, a robust vehicle tailored for Nigeria’s challenging construction and logistics industries. The Howo N CNG tractor features a Sinotruk MAN gas engine with a 6-cylinder in-line system, offering 430 hp (316 kW) at 1900 rpm and a maximum torque of 2100 Nm between 1000 and 1400 rpm. The truck’s engine incorporates premium components from globally recognized brands, including WABCO, Cummins, MAN, and Behr, ensuring durability and reliability in various operational environments.
With a single-plate dry diaphragm spring clutch and a HW19710 transmission featuring 10 forward gears and 2 reverse, the Sinotruk Howo is engineered for efficiency and strength in Nigeria’s diverse topographies.
Commitment to Service and Support
Both the King Long bus and Sinotruk Howo truck were inspected at the event by representatives from the NADDC and PCNGi, further emphasizing their potential as viable alternatives to fossil fuel-powered vehicles in Nigeria. CFAO Equipment Nigeria also ensures that spare parts and after-sales services are readily available across its nationwide network, providing peace of mind for operators maintaining their vehicles.
Through these innovations, CFAO Equipment is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable transportation future in Nigeria, offering cost-effective, eco-friendly solutions for both public and private transport sectors.
