Poland’s GAZ-SYSTEM has secured a building permit for the Lwówek Gas Compressor Station, marking a key milestone in the project’s development. With all necessary administrative approvals in place, the company is now cleared to begin construction.
The new compressor station aims to enhance the transmission of natural gas from the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, improving supply to central and eastern Poland. One of the project’s key objectives is to boost the capacity of the North-South Gas Corridor, particularly the Goleniów-Odolanów pipeline. Additionally, the station will facilitate the integration of the transit gas pipeline with Poland’s national transmission system.
The Lwówek Gas Compressor Station will be located in the village of Zębowo, within the Lwówek commune in the Wielkopolska province. The facility will feature three compressor units with a combined capacity of 24 MW, along with the necessary infrastructure. A two-way regulation and measurement station will also be built, with a capacity range of 1,230,000 m³/h to 1,600,000 m³/h. Furthermore, a connection unit will be established, linking two DN 1000 gas pipelines to the DN 1400 transit gas pipeline, enabling efficient gas transmission between the national and transit systems. The existing Lwówek Gas Node will also undergo an expansion.
Power for the station will be supplied via two medium-voltage connections, spanning a total of 15 kilometers. These connections are covered by a separate building permit.
Construction of the Lwówek Gas Compressor Station is expected to take place from 2025 to 2027.
