Inverness City Council Approves Key Purchases for Public Services

On December 17, the Inverness City Council approved several important purchases, including a new truck for the Parks and Recreation Department, a backup generator for the Citrus Booster Plant, and a grant request for fire department radios.

Fire Chief Bobby Bessler presented a request for a $192,744 FEMA grant to purchase portable radios and mobile units for fire vehicles, with a city match of $9,637.20. The council did not vote on this item, as it was for informational purposes only.

Council members also approved the purchase of a 200-kilowatt generator for the Citrus Booster Plant at a cost of $79,845, part of the city’s Capital Improvement Plan. Additionally, a 2024 Ford Ranger was approved for $35,000 to replace an aging 2007 Jeep.

City Manager Eric Williams thanked staff and residents for their contributions to the city’s success in 2023, highlighting community events like Light up Liberty and the Olde Fashioned Christmas. The meeting concluded with holiday well wishes from the council.
