An Iranian company has pioneered the design and manufacture of cold box heat exchangers, primarily used in NGL, LNG units, ethane recovery in gas refineries, ethylene and ammonia units in petrochemicals, ASU units, and steel and mining industries.
“We specialize in producing high-tech, complex heat exchangers for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries,” said Hadi Soheilipour, the company’s development manager and vice-chairman. The firm is the first in Iran to successfully create cold box heat exchangers.
The cold box, a complete package of brazed aluminum heat exchangers housed in carbon steel casings, offers structural support, insulation, and protection for internal components. Perlite insulation is used for easy assembly, and the unit is pressurized and purged with dry nitrogen gas.
This innovative cold box minimizes installation space, streamlining commissioning and reducing pre-commissioning work. By integrating heat exchangers, interconnecting piping, vessels, valves, and instrumentation into one package, it provides a ready-to-operate unit. Cold boxes are especially useful in cryogenic processes like air separation, where they are insulated with perlite within a carbon steel frame.
