Sodeca’s Heat Recovery Systems Offer Significant Energy Savings

by Anna

Sodeca has highlighted the energy-saving benefits of its advanced heat recovery systems, which are designed to optimize indoor air quality while reducing dependence on heating and cooling systems.

Heat recovery systems work by renewing the air within buildings and simultaneously regulating its temperature. This is achieved by transferring the heat from the expelling indoor air to the incoming fresh air, thereby minimizing the need for additional heating or cooling. As a result, these systems contribute to energy efficiency and a reduction in overall energy consumption.

The company’s heat recovery systems include models tailored for both residential and commercial applications. For homes, Sodeca offers the AirHome, while larger, more robust models like the RECUP/EC-BS and RECUP/EC-H cater to high-capacity buildings.

At the core of these systems is the heat exchanger. Sodeca uses three types of heat exchangers, distinguished by the flow of air through them: rotary, cross-flow plate, and counterflow plate exchangers. Among these, the counterflow plate design offers the highest thermal efficiency, reaching up to 90%. This system excels in transferring energy—whether heat or cold—from the exhaust air to the incoming air, ensuring efficient energy usage.

In addition to their residential and commercial applications, Sodeca’s systems also adhere to building regulations, such as Spain’s Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE). This regulation mandates the installation of heat recovery ventilation systems when the external air supply exceeds 1.008 m³/h.

Furthermore, the company points out that Energy Savings Certificates (EACs) can significantly reduce the implementation costs of such systems. These certificates are easier to obtain through the Catalogue of Standardised Energy Efficiency Data Sheets, making the installation of dual-flow ventilation systems more cost-effective while simplifying the verification process for energy savings.

Sodeca’s heat recovery systems offer an efficient and sustainable solution for improving air quality and reducing energy consumption in both residential and commercial settings.
