Johnson Controls has introduced the YORK YK-CP Centrifugal Chiller, designed to boost energy efficiency while supporting sustainability in large commercial buildings. Available in 2,000 to 3,000 tons, the chiller is optimized for the ultra-low GWP refrigerant R-1234ze(E), providing high performance without the need for a larger footprint.
The YK-CP operates up to 30% more efficiently than conventional chillers, cutting over 500 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually per unit—equivalent to removing 100 passenger vehicles from the road. “The YK-CP builds on the legacy of our YORK YK chillers, offering building owners an energy-efficient solution to reduce both costs and carbon impact,” said Greg Shirk, associate product manager at Johnson Controls.
Building on the success of the YK-EP model, the YK-CP delivers efficiencies as low as 0.15 kW/ton (23.4 COP), thanks to a high-efficiency economizer and a proprietary falling film evaporator design that uses up to 40% less refrigerant. It also features the updated OptiView Control Panel, which enhances user interface and streamlines operations.
The chiller’s modular design allows for customization to meet different cooling needs, reducing upfront costs while ensuring optimal performance. With quicker installation and integration into existing systems, the YK-CP is a reliable, cost-effective choice for businesses aiming to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
