TESCO® has launched its Backup Power Transfer Meter (BPTM), a new innovation that offers homeowners a safer, more convenient way to switch to backup generator power during outages.
With power disruptions becoming more frequent due to extreme weather, grid failures, and public safety shutdowns, the BPTM provides a utility-approved solution that eliminates the risks of manual power transfers, unsafe extension cords, and complicated generator setups.

During an outage, homeowners can safely connect a portable generator (30A, 240V) to power their entire home, avoiding the need for extension cords or sub-panels.
The system prevents backfeeding, which protects utility workers and infrastructure, while ensuring smooth transitions between grid power and generator power. It also provides whole-home power without the need for partial setups. Installed by utilities, the BPTM complies with regulatory standards, and installation takes around 45 minutes with minimal disruption. The system is also future-ready, compatible with battery storage and solar inverters.
