TMC Compressors (TMC) has been selected to provide a high-capacity marine compressed air system for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility being built by Wison New Energies for Genting, a Malaysia-based company. TMC’s role in this project is as a subcontractor to Jereh Offshore, a China-based engineering company specializing in offshore industries.
Project Overview and Scope of Supply
TMC will deliver a comprehensive marine compressed air system consisting of six compressors designed for various purposes, including control air, instrument air, nitrogen (N2) feed air, and utility applications. The specific value of the contract has not been disclosed. TMC’s compressors are designed specifically for marine and offshore use, focusing on energy efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance, allowing the onboard crew to perform maintenance without difficulty, even while at sea.
FLNG Facility Details and Commissioning
The FLNG facility, with a production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per year (tpy) of liquefied natural gas, will be constructed by Wison New Energies at its shipyards in Nantong and ZhouShan, China. After completing the yard performance test, the facility will be transported to Teluk Bintuni, West Papua, Indonesia, where it will undergo final commissioning.
Key Features of TMC’s Compressed Air System
TMC’s compressors are built to provide substantial compressed air capacity, essential for the operation of the FLNG facility. These systems are designed to focus on low energy consumption and low operating expenses, ensuring reliable performance. Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development, emphasized that the compressed air systems would meet the substantial needs of the large FLNG facility.
Conclusion
This collaboration highlights TMC Compressors’ expertise in providing reliable, energy-efficient compressed air systems for demanding marine and offshore applications. With its robust system designed for easy maintenance and efficiency, TMC’s contribution will play a critical role in the successful operation of the FLNG facility, supporting its LNG production capabilities and ensuring long-term reliability.
