Leitner-Poma of America (LPOA) has inaugurated its new Skytrac manufacturing facility in Tooele, Utah, marking a significant expansion for the company. Known for its comprehensive solutions in engineering, producing, installing, and servicing cable transport systems for ski resorts, amusement parks, and urban transit, LPOA is enhancing its operational capacity with this new development.
Situated near Salt Lake City, the 130,000-square-foot facility will serve as the headquarters and exclusive manufacturing site for Skytrac, a subsidiary of LPOA. This move aligns with LPOA’s “Made in America” initiative, reflecting a commitment to domestic production and job creation.
The new campus is designed to accommodate increased production demands driven by growth in both the ski industry and urban markets. It will also act as a regional distribution and service hub for LPOA’s affiliate companies, including Prinoth, known for its snow groomers, and Demaclenko, which specializes in snowmaking systems.
The facility represents a substantial investment, with LPOA committing over $27 million to the project. The expansion will enable the company to boost production capabilities and potentially add up to 120 new jobs, with additional growth anticipated in future phases.
In addition to its production capabilities, the new facility incorporates significant sustainability measures. It features an LTW42 wind turbine, which is expected to meet up to 100% of the plant’s electricity requirements.
LPOA continues to expand its footprint with a nearly 100,000-square-foot facility in Grand Junction, Colorado. The company has recently acquired an additional five acres adjacent to this site to further enhance its operational capacity.
