Rolls-Royce has granted Glasgow-based Castle Precision Engineering a contract exceeding £85 million for the manufacture and supply of precision machined critical rotating parts for aero engines.
The agreement, endorsed by the UK Government’s Scottish Secretary, will extend into the latter half of the decade, continuing a 40-year relationship with Castle Precision Engineering as a supplier to Rolls-Royce’s civil aerospace, defence, and business aviation programs.
UK Secretary of State for Scotland, the Rt Hon Ian Murray, lauded the deal: “Congratulations to Glasgow’s Castle Precision Engineering on securing this well-deserved contract. It’s great news for the company’s 120 employees, whose skills, expertise, and innovation demonstrate why Scotland is a leader in this sector.”

Castle has continually proven to be a high-quality, reliable, and innovative supplier over many years. This contract extension, won against fierce global competition, endorses the hard work by the entire Castle team to remain competitive, agile, and at the forefront of manufacturing innovation.”
Yan Tiefenbrun, Managing Director of Castle Precision Engineering, expressed pride in the achievement: “This is the largest contract in our 73-year history and represents growth and increased certainty for our company and our people after the challenging pandemic years. It is a testament to the exceptional operational performance delivered by the Castle team and the trust our customer places in us for this extensive portfolio of safety-critical engine hardware. It’s a privilege and a fantastic endorsement of the high-quality precision engineering work we deliver here in the UK that we are extending this long-standing relationship with Rolls-Royce.”
Components produced by Castle Precision Engineering are integral to Rolls-Royce products, including the Trent family of engines for large passenger and freight aircraft, the Pearl family for business jets, and the Eurofighter Typhoon’s EJ200 engines.
Employing 120 people, Castle Precision Engineering manufactures high-precision critical gas turbine components for the aerospace and energy industries, alongside complex prismatic parts for the defence, space, and medical sectors.
