Siemens and BAE Systems have announced a landmark five-year agreement to collaborate on accelerating digital innovation in engineering and manufacturing technologies. The partnership aims to leverage digital transformation and capabilities throughout program lifecycles.
The strategic agreement focuses on developing future-oriented engineering and manufacturing capabilities within BAE Systems. This initiative builds upon the recent integration of Siemens’ NX software for product engineering and Teamcenter software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. These tools, along with edge computing solutions and technology validation, have already been successfully implemented across various technology centers.
Under the agreement, Siemens Digital Industries and BAE Systems will collaborate regionally and internationally in key areas such as sustainability, industrial digitalization, and supply chain modernization. The goal is to accelerate the commercial application of technological advancements within BAE Systems.
This collaboration follows a long-standing partnership between Siemens and BAE Systems, which has included the development and delivery of various Siemens technologies, knowledge sharing between engineers, and joint showcases of solutions at industry forums.
Brian Holliday, Managing Director at Siemens Digital Industries in the UK and Ireland, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “This agreement builds on a well-established, successful collaboration between BAE Systems and Siemens. Technology is transforming manufacturing at an accelerated pace, and we are proud to work with BAE Systems at the leading edge of Industry 4.0 in the UK. By working together in a focused way, we can accelerate the time to business and sustainability benefits through technology.”
Iain Minton, Technology Capability Delivery Director at BAE Systems, highlighted the practical benefits of the collaboration: “Collaborations like this help us develop and invest in digital thread enabling technologies in a much more integrated and seamless way. Siemens understands the complexities of our operating environment, allowing us to quickly mature ideas and implement new engineering, support, or manufacturing capabilities.”
Ben Sheath, Vice President and Managing Director, UK & Ireland, Siemens Digital Industries Software, expressed excitement about the extended partnership: “We are pleased to extend Siemens’ two-decade-long relationship with BAE Systems as it continues to build the factory of the future. This is another great example of how leaders in aerospace are choosing to partner with Siemens and adopt the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio as the foundation of their digital transformation.”
The collaboration will also continue to innovate and develop new approaches to digital manufacturing, supporting BAE Systems’ Factory of the Future initiative. This agreement reinforces both companies’ commitment to leading the charge in digital transformation and industrial innovation.
