This new facility, marking the company’s largest laboratory investment to date, stands as one of the most comprehensive electric and hybrid vehicle and industrial battery testing centers in the U.S.
Located in the Auburn Hills Oakland Technology Park, near Detroit—the heart of the automotive industry—the laboratory underscores UL Solutions’ commitment to enhancing the safety and reliability of energy storage products. This investment is part of UL Solutions’ broader strategy to address the evolving demands of battery technologies amidst the global shift towards electrification and clean energy.
The state-of-the-art laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge battery testing technology, enabling UL Solutions to offer a full spectrum of safety and performance assessments for automotive and industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their suppliers.
The facility features a robust portfolio of tests, including thermal fire propagation, electrical, mechanical abuse, and environmental evaluations. These tests adhere to a range of standards and guidelines, including those set by UL, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), United Nations (UN) goals and initiatives, and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) specifications.
