OceanX has successfully completed its journey from Guangzhou to the Yangjiang Mingyang Qingzhou IV offshore wind farm in Guangdong, China. The tow, spanning 191 nautical miles and taking over 50 hours, marks the beginning of a significant advancement in green energy technology.
The floating wind turbine platform, developed by Mingyang Group, features a distinctive ‘V’ configuration and is equipped with two 8.3 MW offshore wind turbines. With a combined capacity of 16.6 MW, this platform is designed for deployment in deep waters exceeding 35 meters globally.
The OceanX platform reaches a height of 219 meters at its tallest point and has a maximum width of approximately 369 meters. The entire structure has a displacement of 15,000 tons and a towing draft of 5.5 meters.
Once fully operational, the platform is projected to generate 54 million kWh of electricity annually, sufficient to supply power to 30,000 households of three people each for one year.
