CASE Expands Electric Equipment Line with New Backhoe Loader and Compact Machines

by Anna

CASE Construction Equipment is advancing its electric vehicle (EV) offerings with the commercial launch of the 580EV, a new electric backhoe loader designed for municipal work, utility services, urban construction, and other contractor applications.

The introduction of the 580EV marks a significant step forward, joining CASE’s expanding EV portfolio that now includes five models. Following the 580EV, CASE plans to roll out two additional electric machines: the CX25EV, a 2.5-metric ton mini excavator, and the CL36EV, a 3.6-metric ton compact wheel loader. These new models complement the already available CX15EV electric mini excavator and SL22EV small articulated loader.

CASE’s latest EV equipment promises zero-emissions, low-noise operation for a variety of challenging job sites, from urban centers to environments requiring minimal noise and emissions. The new equipment offers performance comparable to its diesel counterparts, with added benefits such as reduced fuel costs and lower maintenance needs.

Enhanced Performance and Features

The CASE 580EV electric backhoe loader maintains the dimensional loading and digging capabilities of the popular 97-horsepower CASE 580SN diesel model. This new model represents an evolution of CASE’s Project Zeus electric backhoe concept first introduced at CONEXPO 2020.

The 580EV features an 8-inch color display, air conditioning, a front-dash display, and customizable four-corner multicolored LED strobe lights. It is powered by a 400-volt, 71-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, compatible with Level 2 J1772 charging, offering up to eight hours of operational run time per charge.

The backhoe loader is equipped with advanced thermal management to regulate temperature and maintain performance in varying conditions. Utilizing two independent electric motors for its PowerDrive transmission and hydraulic systems, the 580EV ensures energy efficiency and enhanced performance. Notable features include ProControl swing dampening, PowerLift/PowerBoost, and electrohydraulic controls for precision and ease of use.

Expanding the Electric Lineup

Alongside the 580EV, CASE will introduce the CX25EV and CL36EV in the coming months. The CX25EV, a more powerful version of the existing electric mini excavator, offers emissions-free operation ideal for urban and high-traffic infrastructure projects. It features hydraulic flow settings, up to three auxiliary circuits, and a compact design for ease of maneuverability in tight spaces.

The CL36EV, a 3.6-metric ton electric compact wheel loader, matches the power and performance of similarly sized diesel loaders but with reduced maintenance and ownership costs. Its high hinge-pin height and versatile attachment options make it suitable for supply yards, building renovations, and indoor operations.

With these new additions, CASE enhances its EV lineup, providing a broader range of solutions for operations requiring low noise or zero emissions. This expanded portfolio supports more productive and efficient work while contributing to reduced environmental impact.
