KMF has committed £900,000 to acquire a TRUMPF TruPunch 5000 Large Format (S12) machine, marking a major upgrade to its sheet metal fabrication capabilities.
This substantial investment will see the replacement of an older punching machine during the Christmas shutdown period, ensuring minimal disruption to production operations.
Described as the fastest punching machine globally, the TruPunch 5000 S12 is expected to significantly boost KMF’s CNC punching efficiency. The new machine is capable of achieving up to 1,600 punches per minute and can mark parts at an impressive rate of 2,800 hits per minute.
The TruPunch 5000 S12 incorporates advanced features tailored to KMF’s long-term needs, including:
Active Die Technology: This feature ensures scratch-free punching and forming by utilizing a descending die.
Condition Monitoring: A digital system that detects equipment anomalies through real-time data analysis, enhancing preventive maintenance and minimizing downtime.
The TruPunch 5000 S12 will be installed at KMF’s High Carr Business Park fabrication facility. This acquisition represents a key phase in KMF’s investment strategy, aiming to bolster its reliability and service capabilities.
Adam Ellis, Head of Business Development at KMF, stated: “The acquisition of the TruPunch 5000 S12 represents a pivotal moment for KMF. Our focus is on advancing performance, automating processes, and embracing digitalization to achieve our business objectives.”
