Citizen Machinery UK is set to celebrate a significant milestone with a three-day open house event at its Midlands facility from October 8-10, 2024. This event will take place at the company’s Turning Centre of Excellence in Brierley Hill, which serves as both its main showroom and a hub for configuring turnkey production solutions, often incorporating automation.
The open house will mark the 50th anniversary of Citizen’s Cincom sliding-head lathes entering the UK and Irish markets, a landmark occasion for the company. Additionally, it will highlight 41 years since Macro Machine Tools began distributing Miyano fixed-head lathes in the same regions. Both former distributors were later acquired by Citizen Machinery Japan.
During the event, Citizen Machinery UK will unveil the latest iteration of its popular Cincom L32 sliding-head turning centre. The new model will feature an optional B-axis automatic tool changer, allowing for versatile machining of complex workpieces with diameters of up to 32mm, or optionally 38mm.
The open house will showcase several advanced technologies, with a key focus on Citizen’s innovative LFV (Low Frequency Vibration) programmable chip-breaking technology. This feature, integrated into the control systems of select lathe models, including the new L32, is designed to eliminate problematic swarf ribbons, enhancing both machine productivity and tool longevity.
Another highlight will be the Eco Function technology, which promotes energy efficiency and accelerates return on investment. This technology is exemplified by the Eco Monitor touchscreen, which provides real-time graphical data on power consumption and regeneration, ensuring optimal lathe performance.
The event will offer live demonstrations of these cutting-edge CNC turning technologies, providing attendees with a comprehensive view of Citizen Machinery’s advancements and their impact on manufacturing efficiency.
