Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has welcomed its latest cohort of 31 apprentices, bringing the total number of apprentices at the company’s Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence and Headquarters in Goodwood to 98. This new intake will spend between two and four years honing their skills across various departments and teams.
This year’s apprentices will engage in diverse roles, including positions in the interior trim centre, technical assembly, sewing, interior and exterior surface centres, robot operations, milling machining, assembly, and test & finish. For the first time, apprenticeship opportunities have also expanded into new areas such as data analytics and product development.
The apprenticeship program combines hands-on experience with academic study, leading to nationally recognized qualifications. Level 2 and 3 apprentices will undertake vocational courses at Chichester College Group, which has received an outstanding rating from Ofsted. Those pursuing Degree Apprenticeships will study at the University of Chichester, ranked among the top 40 universities in the UK.
To attract new talent, Rolls-Royce participates in careers fairs and seminars at schools and colleges, collaborates with the Education Development Trust (EDT), and engages with the Government-backed Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) to deliver STEM-related talks. In addition, the company is hosting webinars in September for prospective candidates interested in its Future Talent programme, which includes internships, graduate opportunities, and apprenticeships.
Gunther Boehner, Director of Manufacturing at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, expressed enthusiasm about the new apprentices, stating, “Welcoming a new intake of apprentices to the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood is always a very special occasion for both the new arrivals and for us. These dedicated young individuals, who have successfully navigated a rigorous selection process, represent the future of our business. They are the future world-class craftspeople, managers, and leaders who will help shape Rolls-Royce. We are excited to embark on this transformative journey with them and wish them every success.”
