Iconsys, a leading industrial automation specialist, has bolstered its sales team with a strategic internal promotion and a high-profile new appointment, aiming to support its ambitious expansion objectives.
The Telford-based company, known for its control and automation solutions, power conversion, and system integration services, has promoted Andy Bunce to the role of Technical Sales Director. Additionally, Andrew Rushton has joined as Group Sales Director.
This organizational shift follows a record year for Iconsys, which includes the launch of two new technical offices in Cheshire and Scotland and an anticipated increase in orders to £14.5 million by the end of the year—a £5 million rise from the previous year.
Andrew Rushton, a chartered engineer with extensive experience in global sales strategy and sustained growth, will oversee the daily management of the sales team and lead the company’s ‘Go to Market’ strategy. His background includes key roles at Schneider Electric and ABB, where he was instrumental in launching new automation businesses and developing strategic accounts.
Nick Darrall, Managing Director of Iconsys, highlighted the significance of these appointments: “Andrew’s addition to our team is a tremendous asset, bringing valuable experience in strategic sales development. His role will be crucial in steering our sales organization and shaping our long-term objectives.”
Rushton expressed enthusiasm about joining Iconsys: “It’s an exciting time to be part of Iconsys. The company’s expertise is already helping major clients enhance productivity, safety, and profitability, and we aim to expand our market share across sectors like maritime, construction materials, metals, energy, transportation, and consumer goods.”
In his new role, Rushton will focus on leveraging his experience to boost market presence and sales growth. “I look forward to collaborating with Andy Bunce and implementing strategies that play to our strengths and accelerate our growth.”
Andy Bunce, who has been with Iconsys for 14 years, will now lead efforts to enhance the technical capabilities of the sales team. As Technical Sales Director, Bunce will be responsible for developing both existing and new business opportunities, particularly large-scale pursuits and key bids.
Bunce, a long-time advocate for using automation to improve manufacturing safety and efficiency, noted: “Our approach involves delivering innovative value at every stage of the design process. I am eager to work with Andrew Rushton to pursue more complex opportunities and further our impact across various industries.”
Iconsys, which has expanded its workforce by 25% to 81 employees, is poised for continued success with these new leadership appointments, reflecting its commitment to driving innovation and growth in the industrial automation sector.
