SOCAR-Uniper to Launch Turbo Generator Unit at Azerikimya Plant During COP29 in Baku

The SOCAR-Uniper joint venture, a collaboration between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Germany’s Uniper, is set to unveil a new turbo generator unit at the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of the Azerikimya Production Union. This announcement was made by Rashad Huseynli, head of Uniper’s Azerbaijan representative office, at the Caspian Energy Forum in Baku.

The official inauguration will take place in November during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Baku.

Huseynli highlighted that the project, focused on boosting energy efficiency at Azerikimya, is a major milestone for the SOCAR-Uniper partnership. “We are proud to announce that the project is essentially completed, and the official commissioning of the turbo generator unit, which will provide electricity and steam, is scheduled during the COP29 conference,” he said.
