Tata Motors has reached a significant milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its Tata Tiago EV, which has now surpassed 50,000 units sold in India. This achievement highlights the Tiago EV’s popularity since its introduction.
The Tiago EV was launched in September 2022, with official sales starting in February 2023. It quickly became one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the country, known for its reliability, safety, and stylish design.
The starting price of the Tata Tiago EV is Rs. 7.99 lakh, going up to Rs. 11.49 lakh based on the chosen variant. To celebrate reaching this milestone, Tata Motors has announced a price reduction of up to Rs. 70,000, depending on the variant.
This 5-seater compact vehicle is available in four trim models: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+Lux, and it comes in five attractive colors: Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Pristine White, and Midnight Plum. The Tiago EV offers two driving modes: City and Sport.
Customers can choose between two battery options: a 19.2 kWh battery and a 24 kWh version. The Tiago EV features an automatic transmission and offers a range of 250 km to 315 km, according to MIDC standards.
The electric motor’s output varies with the battery pack. The 19.2 kWh version has a 45 kW motor producing 60 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, while the 24 kWh variant features a more powerful 55 kW motor with 74 bhp and 114 Nm of torque.
Charging options include a 3.3 kW or 7.2 kW home charger, depending on the variant. The Tiago EV achieved the impressive feat of reaching 10,000 sales just four months after its launch in May 2023, and it was one of the fastest-booked EVs in India, garnering 10,000 bookings in just 24 hours upon its introduction.
This milestone not only highlights the Tiago EV’s success but also signifies a positive trend for the broader electric vehicle industry in India.
