Slovenian measurement equipment manufacturer Metrel has introduced the MI 3114 PV Tester, a multifunctional device designed to enhance safety testing for photovoltaic (PV) systems. Capable of handling systems with voltages up to 1,500 V and short-circuit currents of up to 40 A, the MI 3114 is engineered to meet the growing demand for comprehensive testing solutions in the solar energy sector.
The tester adheres to the IEC 62446-1 standard and supports all necessary measurement procedures for category 1 tests. These include PV-specific functions such as insulation resistance measurement of PV strings, as well as Isc and Uoc measurements. The device also facilitates the calculation of measured values to Standard Test Conditions (STC) and enables comparison with the nominal values provided by the PV module manufacturer.
Metrel offers the MI 3114 in two configurations: a standard version and a more advanced “pro” version. The pro version is equipped with a remote Wi-Fi unit that allows users to measure irradiation and cell temperature in real time. Both versions of the tester are operated via a color touchscreen display for ease of use.
In terms of size, the MI 3114 measures 31 cm x 13 cm x 25 cm and weighs 4.4 kg. The optional remote unit, which weighs 1 kg, measures 14 cm x 8 cm x 23 cm. Both units are designed to function at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters, making them suitable for a wide range of installation environments.
This release marks another step forward for Metrel in providing cutting-edge testing solutions for the renewable energy industry.
