INOX India Ltd (INOXCVA), a global leader in cryogenic technology solutions, has secured a significant contract with Island Power Producers Limited (IPP) to design, engineer, and supply a Mini LNG receiving and regasification terminal in The Bahamas. This terminal will provide natural gas to IPP’s 60 MW combined-cycle power plant, which is set to supply shore power to cruise ships docked at the Nassau Cruise Port.
The Mini LNG terminal, once operational, will serve as a model distribution hub for smaller LNG users, offering a reliable energy source for power generation and other needs across The Bahamas. The terminal will feature an impressive 15,000 m³ LNG storage capacity, making it the largest installation of shop-built, double-walled, vacuum-insulated LNG storage tanks globally. This includes the supply of ten 1,500 m³ capacity tanks, alongside an advanced regasification system. These tanks will be the largest vacuum-insulated units ever manufactured by INOXCVA, marking the company’s largest order in its LNG business division.
Additionally, the Mini LNG terminal will be the first of its kind in the region, specifically designed to provide shore power for cruise ships. Once operational, the terminal will be capable of receiving LNG from smaller ships and reloading it into ISO containers for distribution to LNG users in the surrounding area.
This new contract comes shortly after the completion of INOXCVA’s second mini-LNG terminal in Antigua, underscoring the growing adoption of LNG as a sustainable fuel source, particularly in remote locations. The successful deployment of these terminals highlights the increasing demand for LNG solutions in power generation and other critical energy applications.
