At the ongoing SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Kia has unveiled a series of exciting new concept vehicles, with a particular focus on electric models. Among the five vehicles presented, the spotlight is on the EV9 and PV5, which highlight the automaker’s commitment to blending off-road capability with electric innovation.
The EV9 concept, an all-electric SUV, features a range of rugged upgrades designed for outdoor adventures. Notable modifications include heavy-duty rocker panels, a custom roof rack with an integrated light bar, a new rear bumper, and stylish wheels wrapped in aggressive off-road tires. These enhancements give the EV9 a tougher, more adventurous look while maintaining its electric efficiency.
For those drawn to the vanlife lifestyle, Kia also introduced the PV5 Wkndr concept. This electric van is equipped for off-grid adventures, featuring a lift kit, off-road tires, and auxiliary lighting. It also boasts solar panels and innovative hydro turbine wheels that can recharge the vehicle’s battery, ensuring power on the go. Inside, the PV5 offers a modular interior, a pop-up roof for added space, and an onboard air compressor for outdoor activities. A winch and an external display complete the package, making this concept ideal for rugged explorers.
Kia’s other SEMA offerings include more grounded, yet equally adventurous, builds based on their popular internal combustion models. The Thetis Sportage, developed in collaboration with Rhino Rack, is a water-themed concept with a custom wrap, rose gold accents, and Fifteen52 wheels mounted with Toyo tires. A kayak mount from Rhino Rack adds to the vehicle’s outdoor utility.
The Zeus Telluride, created in partnership with Xpel, adopts a military-inspired design with an Eibach lift kit and Fifteen52 wheels wrapped in Toyo tires. A Borla exhaust and a MOD storage system from Yakima further enhance its rugged appeal.
Lastly, the Gaia Sorento features mountain-themed graphics and gold accents, with a Yakima awning and light bars to boost its outdoor functionality. This concept also includes a projector and a soundbar, allowing for a movie night under the stars after a day of adventure.
Kia’s SEMA 2024 concepts showcase their vision for a future where electric vehicles are just as capable of tackling the outdoors as their gasoline-powered counterparts, while offering a new level of utility and versatility for outdoor enthusiasts.
