Estonia has delivered more than 140 transformers and over 300 pieces of energy equipment to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, bolstering Ukraine’s energy infrastructure amidst ongoing challenges.
This announcement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
Prime Minister Shmyhal expressed gratitude for Estonia’s substantial contribution to Ukraine’s energy sustainability. “Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism alone, Estonia has provided us with over 140 transformers and more than 300 units of energy equipment,” Shmyhal said. “We have received crucial support not only from the state level but also from regional, municipal, and private sectors.”
Shmyhal further highlighted Estonia’s pioneering role in providing patronage over the Zhytomyr region. Several infrastructure projects have already been completed under this initiative, including the construction of a kindergarten, a road bridge, and a family-type home. He also extended his thanks to Estonia for its collaboration on the Maritime Industry Recovery Plan for Ukraine and its efforts to attract international donors for its execution.
In response, Prime Minister Michal reaffirmed Estonia’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine, particularly through the provision of essential equipment. “A number of turbines, generators, and transformer stations are currently en route to Ukraine and are expected to arrive next month,” Michal confirmed.
Estonia has already contributed nearly EUR 542 million in defense support to Ukraine, underscoring its continued partnership in Ukraine’s recovery and resilience efforts.
