As landscaping companies face rising costs and stricter environmental regulations, many are turning to propane-powered equipment for cost savings and sustainability. The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) highlights propane as an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to gasoline, helping businesses boost productivity while reducing emissions.
“Propane offers a unique combination of affordability, efficiency, and environmental benefits,” said Michael Newland, director of agriculture business development at PERC. “Landscaping businesses are seeing immediate savings and positioning themselves as leaders in sustainable practices.”
Propane-powered mowers are more cost-effective, with lower operational costs and quick refueling on-site. They also provide significant environmental advantages, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur oxides compared to gasoline-powered mowers. The average propane mower costs between $8,000 and $12,000, while electric models can run $20,000 to $30,000.
PERC offers tools like the Mower Cost Calculator to help businesses estimate potential savings, making the switch to propane an accessible and efficient choice for many landscaping professionals.
