Global air and heating technology leader ebm-papst has formed a strategic partnership with hydrogen heating start-up HYTING to accelerate the development and production of hydrogen-powered heat generators.
HYTING’s innovative system provides a simple, safe, and clean method for generating heat from hydrogen without combustion. Using a proprietary catalytic process, the system combines hydrogen and oxygen from air to produce heat, with the only by-product being water. Unlike conventional hydrogen heating systems that rely on combustion, HYTING’s technology eliminates NOx and particulate emissions and does not require flammable hydrogen concentrations during operation.
The modular and scalable system, with outputs ranging from 10-300 kW, is designed for various applications, including residential and commercial heating, as well as heating systems for commercial vehicles. Prototypes are currently being tested, with customer trials scheduled to begin in Germany by Q1 2025.
As part of the partnership, ebm-papst will apply its extensive experience in hydrogen technology to support the development and launch of HYTING’s heat generators. With years of research in hydrogen and its in-house hydrogen laboratory in Landshut, ebm-papst is well-equipped to integrate its gas products, which are already certified for hydrogen admixture, into the new heat generation systems. The company will manufacture the hydrogen heat generators at its advanced production facilities.
