TMC Compressors has secured a major contract to supply complete marine compressed air systems, including control and service air compressors, for 32 LNG carriers. The vessels will be chartered by a leading LNG shipping company. The contract covers 15 ships, with TMC providing equipment designed for energy efficiency and ease of maintenance, allowing vessel crews to perform on-board servicing while at sea.
Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s Director of Sales and Business Development, highlighted the company’s focus on energy-efficient compressors that minimize lifecycle costs. He noted that this approach is increasingly favored by shipyards and shipowners, with the contract serving as a prime example of this trend. Although the exact value of the deal remains undisclosed, TMC describes it as a significant contract, with the compressors being manufactured at one of its European facilities.
This latest order adds to TMC’s growing presence in the LNG sector. In August 2024, the company secured another order from South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for 17 LNG newbuilds, all set to operate for the same energy company. Just a month earlier, South Korea’s third-largest shipbuilder, Hanwha Ocean, contracted TMC to supply marine compressed air systems for three LNG carriers being built for an Asian shipowner.
