Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd announced on Thursday that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rolls-Royce Marine North America Inc. to explore opportunities for 4MW marine gas turbine generators (GTG) in India.
The agreement aims to collaborate on the design, development, and manufacturing of marine GTGs, focusing on the Indian Navy and other defense applications. Triveni and Rolls-Royce will also work on comprehensive sales and support activities, including installation, testing, and after-market services.
John Shade, EVP for US Business Development and Future Programmes at Rolls-Royce, emphasized the company’s experience in powering advanced naval platforms, including the US Navy’s DDG-51 destroyer, noting that India is a key growth market for Rolls-Royce. He expressed confidence that Rolls-Royce’s marine GTGs would be well-suited to power India’s future naval fleet.
Abhishek Singh, SVP of Business Development and Future Programmes for India and Southeast Asia at Rolls-Royce, highlighted the MoU’s importance in establishing end-to-end support for the technology in India, from installation to long-term maintenance.
Tarun Sawhney, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Triveni Engineering, described the partnership as a significant step in enhancing India’s naval defense capabilities. He also noted that Triveni’s defense division has become a key supplier to the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, with a strong track record in rotary engineering and integrated solutions.
In addition to this collaboration, Triveni is establishing a new, state-of-the-art defense facility to manufacture, integrate, and test various naval marine equipment.
