Ryobi Lawn Mowers Recalled in Canada Over Fire Risk

by Anna

Health Canada has issued a recall for thousands of Ryobi battery-powered lawnmowers in Canada following reports of overheating, fires, and injuries in the United States. The recall involves several models of 21-inch cordless walk-behind mowers manufactured in the U.S. These mowers are equipped with a push-on connector inside the powerhead that can overheat, creating a potential fire hazard.

Around 28,400 of these mowers were sold in Canada between February 2021 and January 2025. While Canada has only received one report of overheating and fire with no injuries, the situation is more severe in the United States, where there have been 96 reports of overheating, including four fires and two minor injuries.

The affected models include various Ryobi mower serial numbers ranging from KC21032D010001 to KC21327N999999. Health Canada is urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled mowers and to contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment Inc. for guidance on how to safely disable the product and receive a free replacement.
