The 2026 Ram Ramcharger is set to hit dealerships in the latter half of 2025, and new details are emerging about the vehicle’s capabilities, particularly its towing performance when the battery is depleted.
Ram has confirmed that the Ramcharger is capable of towing up to 14,000 pounds using only its generator power when the battery is drained. In addition, the vehicle can tow the same weight for 39 miles relying solely on its battery-powered electric motors.
The Ramcharger is a series-hybrid or extended-range electric vehicle, and as its launch approaches, Ram is providing more insight into how the truck performs when its 91.8-kWh gross (69.7-kWh net) battery is no longer available. Ram has explained that, in such cases, the vehicle seamlessly switches from battery-fed electric motors to the generator to maintain towing power.
In tow mode, the Ramcharger is designed to preserve a 30% battery charge, ensuring it has enough energy in reserve to handle demanding towing conditions, such as going uphill. Even without the battery’s assistance, the Ramcharger is capable of towing 14,000 pounds for up to 266 miles using only its generator.
