Atlas Copco has launched the QAC 1450 TwinPower™, a new addition to its QAC range of containerised generators, designed to deliver exceptional versatility, high performance, and fuel efficiency for demanding Modular Power Plant (MPP) applications.
The QAC 1450 TwinPower features a 20ft ISO container housing two compact 725 kVA generators, each powered by V8 Scania engines with double bearing alternators. This configuration, coupled with a fast-paralleling system, enables the generators to operate either independently or in parallel, offering unmatched flexibility. The system is fully EU compliant, meeting the highest industry standards.
According to Sergio Salvador, Product Marketing Manager at Atlas Copco, “Our TwinPower concept offers the same output, performance, and efficiency as a single generator while achieving up to 10% in fuel savings. This solution maximizes flexibility and lowers the overall cost of ownership by combining the benefits of two smaller engines.”
The QAC 1450 is equipped with a user-friendly centralised control and monitoring system, featuring two Qc4003 digital controllers with intuitive touchscreens. The system allows for easy configuration in either island or Power Management System (PMS) modes. Additionally, the QAC 1450 can operate as a standalone unit, in parallel with other generators, or with mains power for greater versatility.
Designed to withstand challenging conditions, including high-altitude environments, the QAC 1450 is built with an intelligent cooling system that ensures optimal performance at temperatures up to 50°C.
Serviceability is a key feature of the TwinPower system, with easy access doors and custom service tools for enhanced uptime. The system requires less than two hours of maintenance every 500 hours of operation, and thanks to the TwinPower concept, 50% of the unit’s total capacity remains available during maintenance.
Designed for the most demanding industries, including mining, construction, transport, oil and gas, and utilities, the QAC 1450 is built to exceed international standards, including ISO8528, and complies with all current EU safety and environmental regulations.
