Airstream has launched its first all-electric travel trailer, the Basecamp 20Xe, designed for off-grid adventures. Now available at authorized dealerships, this 20-foot trailer provides enhanced energy independence for travelers.
Priced at $76,900, the Basecamp 20Xe is an electrified version of the Basecamp 20, which costs $56,900. The electric model features a 10 kWh lithium battery that powers essential appliances and recharges via 600W rooftop solar panels. Instead of a gas burner, it includes an induction stove, making it a cleaner and more sustainable option. This setup allows users to stay off-grid longer while still running air conditioning, microwaves, and charging devices.
The Basecamp 20Xe comes with a fully inverted power system, which includes a lithium battery pack, a converter, an inverter, and custom-made rooftop solar panels designed to function efficiently even in partial shade. However, the trailer does not support EV charging stations or fast-charging technology. Instead, it charges through RV park outlets or standard 30A shore power connections, ensuring compatibility with most camping sites.
Airstream’s Basecamp 20Xe represents a new era in sustainable travel, combining renewable energy solutions with modern convenience. With its advanced battery and solar setup, it allows travelers to explore remote locations without sacrificing comfort, making off-grid adventures more accessible than ever.
