A report by the International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that global data center electricity consumption will more than double by 2028, reaching 857 terawatt-hours (TWh). With rising demand for data processing and storage capacity, Rehlko, a global leader in energy resilience, is positioning itself to offer sustainable and reliable energy solutions to meet the needs of data center operators.
Rehlko, formerly known as Kohler Energy, boasts over 100 years of experience in powering critical industries. The company is focusing on combining traditional power sources with sustainable solutions that ensure both reliability and environmental responsibility. As the data center industry continues to expand, Rehlko’s strategy emphasizes energy-efficient solutions without compromising power reliability.
In 2025, Rehlko plans to bolster its sustainability offerings for data center customers through several initiatives:
Enhanced Conscious Care Maintenance Program: Rehlko will expand its Conscious Care maintenance program, which enables data center operators to test emergency generators at no load and extend load intervals to every four months. This expansion has already resulted in significant reductions in fuel consumption, noise, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy costs for customers.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for KD Series Generators: Rehlko will continue its commitment to sustainability with the introduction of the first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its KD Series generator sets. This declaration is part of the PEP ecopassport program and offers a detailed assessment of the carbon footprint of Rehlko’s generators in mission-critical markets.
Partnership with iMasons: Rehlko is sustaining its partnership with iMasons, helping to establish the “Data Centers As A Good Neighbor” working group. This initiative, which includes key stakeholders like Schneider Electric, aims to address the social and environmental challenges that data center owners and operators face while demonstrating their value to local communities.
Investing in Alternative Technologies: Rehlko is investing in technologies like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and hydrogen fuel cells. These innovative solutions will help customers meet resiliency goals while minimizing their climate impact.
Ryan Baumann, Vice President of Sales, Power Solutions for the Americas at Rehlko, stated, “Our goal is to meet customers where they are, providing backup power solutions that best suit their needs. Whether through traditional large-scale diesel generators or alternative solutions, we aim to support their sustainability objectives.”
Rehlko’s continued focus on sustainability and innovation positions the company to be a key player in the evolving data center industry, helping customers maintain energy resilience while also advancing environmental goals.
