J&J Launches Dualto Energy System for Enhanced Surgical Flexibility

by Anna

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) MedTech has introduced the Dualto Energy System, a versatile electrosurgical generator that integrates multiple energy modalities into a unified platform, designed for both open and minimally invasive surgeries.

The system is built with future compatibility in mind, allowing it to pair seamlessly with J&J’s Ottava Robotic Surgical System and Service Solutions for enhanced uptime support. It is also integrated with the Polyphonic Fleet software application for efficient device management.

The Dualto Energy System offers clinical teams flexibility by supporting ultrasonic, monopolar, bipolar, and advanced bipolar instruments, including Enseal and Harmonic devices, all from a single system. Its modular and flexible design reduces the space requirement by up to 46% compared to traditional separate generators.

Notably, the system is the first to feature a dual configuration, allowing two surgeons to activate energy from one electrosurgical unit during complex procedures. Utilizing Adaptive Tissue Technology, the system automatically adjusts energy delivery based on tissue conditions, providing optimal temperature management. This is complemented by user signals and tone changes for better control of energy delivery.

The system is equipped with a touchscreen interface for easy setup, clear visual and auditory cues, and streamlined workflows designed to enhance the operating room experience. It also allows for the storage of personalized profiles, making setup faster and enabling custom energy settings adjustments tailored to different surgeons and procedures.

Hani Abouhalka, Chairman of J&J MedTech’s Surgery Company Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of surgeons and clinical teams. “Dualto supports a more flexible and digitally connected OR ecosystem for the future of surgical care,” he said.

The Dualto Energy System recently received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), marking a significant milestone in J&J MedTech’s ongoing innovation in surgical technologies.
