Element 1® (e1NA) has announced the receipt of a substantial five-year, multi-unit purchase order valued at over $5.3 million for its L18-PSA methanol-to-hydrogen generator. The order, secured from a prominent North American partner, will see the first units delivered later this year. As part of the agreement, e1NA has granted exclusive distribution rights for the L18-PSA in the US, Canada, Mexico, and the UK, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to lower the cost of compressed hydrogen while ensuring a more secure supply.
The L18-PSA hydrogen generator is the latest innovation in e1NA’s product lineup, building on the foundation of its standard L18 high-purity hydrogen generator. Manufactured at the company’s facility in Bend, Oregon, the L18-PSA is designed to produce low-purity hydrogen by combining methanol and water. The generator is intended to work in tandem with a third-party pressure-swing absorption (PSA) unit, which will further purify the hydrogen to high purity.
Dave Edlund, CEO of Element 1® Corp, expressed confidence in the company’s innovative technology. “This order is further validation of our unique product offerings,” Edlund said. “The number one hurdle to widespread adoption of hydrogen is cost, and the second is security of supply. Our patented technology addresses both of these challenges, often with payback periods measured in months, which is key to accelerating the adoption of fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines.”
With this agreement, e1NA continues to position itself as a leading player in the hydrogen production market, providing solutions that are not only cost-effective but also help strengthen the security of supply, driving the transition to cleaner energy technologies.
