Hannover, Germany – As the much-anticipated EMO trade fair kicks off from September 18 to 23, renowned sharpening specialist Vollmer, based in Biberach, is gearing up to unveil its latest range of sharpening machines and comprehensive services. Situated in Hall 6 at Stand F32, the esteemed machine manufacturer will unveil an array of cutting-edge automated grinding, eroding, and laser machines, designed to cater to ultra-hard cutting materials such as PCD, CBN, and carbide.
Vollmer’s exhibition will not only feature the innovative machinery but will also offer insights into its comprehensive maintenance and training services, as well as its state-of-the-art digital solution, V@dison. Joining the ranks, Vollmer’s affiliated companies, Loroch and ultraTEC Innovation, will also be showcasing their unique offerings at the Vollmer EMO stand.
EMO, the world’s premier production technology trade fair, has embraced a growing emphasis on the convergence of products and services. This backdrop provides Vollmer with an ideal platform to showcase its cutting-edge machinery, comprehensive services, and advanced digital solutions. As an all-encompassing supplier, Vollmer caters to every facet of production technologies, enabling precision machining of rotary tools, circular saws, and band saws, regardless of the cutting material involved.
The highlight of this year’s EMO exhibit is undoubtedly the VHybrid 260 grinding and eroding machine. With the capability to grind and erode up to 100 cutting tools, the VHybrid 260 stands out through its multi-level machining approach, achieved through two vertically aligned spindles. The innovative machine incorporates a lower spindle designed for both grinding and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining). Enhanced by the newly introduced V@dison booster solution, the VHybrid 260 achieves a remarkable surface quality of up to 0.05µm Ra (micrometer/centre roughness value) when eroding PCD tools.
The seamless integration of EDM as a comprehensive manufacturing process is facilitated through digital application. The inclusion of the Vpulse EDM generator empowers the production of even the smallest micro tools, boasting diameters as minute as 0.5mm, with unparalleled precision, performance, and surface quality. The machine’s high-precision machining capabilities are underscored by the integrated ‘Laser Check’ measuring system, ensuring automatic closed-loop round machining attains tolerances as demanding as ±2µm.
Vollmer’s commitment to automation is manifested through the VGrind 360S tool grinding machine, which also adheres to the multi-level machining philosophy. At EMO, Vollmer will elucidate the versatility of the VGrind 360S in processing CBN tools, tailored to individual production requirements, regardless of whether they involve special tools or high-volume production.
Employing cutting-edge automation tools like the new HP 170 pallet magazine, the HPR 250 free-arm robot, or the HC4 chain magazine, the VGrind 360S boasts unmanned, round-the-clock machining capabilities. The HP 170 incorporates optical detection of cooling channels, while up to eight grinding wheel packs, along with coolant supply, can be switched fully automatically.
EMO attendees will also bear witness to Vollmer’s VLaser 370 laser machine, adept at machining ultra-hard materials with precision at the pivot point, courtesy of patented kinematics that reduce compensating movements for enhanced accuracy.
Beyond the cutting-edge machinery, Vollmer’s exhibition scope extends to its subsidiaries. Loroch, specializing in circular saw blade sharpening machines, and ultraTEC Innovation, renowned for ultrasonic deburring systems, will also showcase their contributions.
Culminating the presentation, Vollmer’s range of services including maintenance, repair, training, financing, and digitalization will underscore its comprehensive approach. The company’s digital initiative, V@dison, which incorporates the performance-enhancing V@ boost solution for the VHybrid 260, underscores Vollmer’s commitment to supporting tool manufacturers and sharpening services in achieving automated and cost-efficient production processes.
Jürgen Hauger, Managing Director of the Vollmer Group, remarked, “EMO’s status as the global pinnacle for production technologies resonates with our corporate ethos, as we stand as the preeminent full-line provider of sharpening technologies for precision and automated tool manufacturing.”
Hauger further emphasized, “Our commitment transcends mere processes, as we offer the precise solutions that our clients demand. Complementing our machinery with tailored services and advanced digital solutions allows us to optimally support tool manufacturers and sharpening services in their journey towards automated and cost-efficient production.”
