True Position Robotics (TPR), a UK-based SME, has been chosen by BAE Systems to extend its collaboration on ongoing and future initiatives within BAE Systems’ ‘Factory of the Future’ framework.
Past Success: TPR had previously engaged in a project focused on enhancing the precision of conventional robots through robot guiding technology. This innovative approach significantly reduced the reliance on traditional assembly tooling. The application of TPR’s ‘Adaptive Robot Control (ARC)’ solution demonstrated its potential on a concept fuselage in an industry 4.0 factory demonstrator.
Continued Collaboration: TPR’s expertise earned them a continued partnership with BAE Systems. This new phase commenced with a joint proof of concept trial in the Factory of the Future. The trial involved deploying new Creaform hardware, sourced by TPR, to augment accuracy and build upon previous insights.
Future Prospects: As the partnership evolves, TPR and BAE Systems will collaboratively define and develop the Industry 4.0 connectivity, system maturity, and scalability for future projects.
Martin Knott’s Perspective: Martin Knott, Factory of the Future technology team lead and licensed technologist for air at BAE Systems, expressed enthusiasm about the renewed collaboration. He highlighted TPR’s integral role as one of over 50 key partners in shaping the vision for UK manufacturing development within BAE Systems’ initiatives.
The extended partnership between TPR and BAE Systems is set to drive innovation, precision, and advanced manufacturing technologies within the Factory of the Future framework, solidifying the commitment to ushering in the next era of manufacturing excellence.
