Huddersfield-based precision engineering company, David Brown Santasalo (DBSantasalo), has unveiled plans to expand its workforce with the creation of 38 new engineering positions at its headquarters. The move comes following the acquisition of the gearbox manufacturer by US private equity firm Stellex Capital Management earlier this year. To facilitate this recruitment initiative, DBSantasalo has partnered with manufacturing and engineering specialist, E3 Recruitment, based in Elland.
Established in Huddersfield in 1860, DBSantasalo has grown into a global enterprise with 26 locations worldwide and a workforce of over 1,200 employees, 350 of whom are based in the UK. The company specializes in delivering precision-engineered industrial gear systems tailored for various industrial applications, including mining, pulp and paper production, power generation, and defense.
Leanne Crowther, HR Manager for UK operations at DBSantasalo, expressed the company’s growth ambitions, stating, “We are on a growth trajectory, and our recent client successes have paved the way for this raft of new opportunities within the marine, engineering, and heavy manufacturing departments at our state-of-the-art Huddersfield site.”

As part of the collaboration, E3 Recruitment is actively recruiting for a variety of roles in Huddersfield, including quality and manufacturing engineers, assembly team members, general laborers, CNC machinists and manual millers, program managers and schedulers, project controllers, senior design engineers, and buyers. These positions will contribute to DBSantasalo’s ongoing initiatives across its engineering, marine, and large gear cell departments.
