Protolabs, a leading digital manufacturer, has introduced the inspirON academy, a series of free CPD-accredited online training courses designed to address the widening skills gap in the engineering sector. Tailored for engineers at any career stage, the academy focuses on enhancing understanding in designing for injection moulding, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
Crafted by engineers for engineers, the courses offer 6 to 9 hours of CPD-accredited content, incorporating articles, webinars, and videos to facilitate dynamic and engaging learning experiences. The academy covers fundamental aspects of the three key production processes, guiding participants on technology and material selection, as well as designing with manufacturability in mind for creating more efficient and cost-effective parts. Successful completion of each course is acknowledged with a final assessment and a certificate.
Chris Bentley, EMEA Development Engineer at global manufacturer Panduit, shared his positive experience with the 3D printing course: “As someone who has been in and around the 3D printing industry for years – without really understanding the fundamental principles, I found the course really valuable. The content was well communicated and structured, as well as being relevant.”
Rob Musselle, Customer Engineer Manager for Europe at Protolabs, emphasized the importance of learning and development in addressing the growing skills gap in the engineering sector. He stated, “The inspirON academy is part of our drive to educate the next generation of engineers. The courses we’ve created draw on the combined expertise of our team to help individuals develop their skillset – whether they’ve just started in the industry or are seasoned professionals looking for a refresher.”
Protolabs encourages participants to share feedback on the courses, emphasizing its commitment to continuous improvement and development of content to meet the evolving needs of the engineering community.
