Leicester-based metalwork firm, ADS Laser Cutting, is set to bolster its workforce by hiring at least three new apprentices in the coming months, with plans to extend the intake to five. The move follows the recent promotion of Zeke Keates, a former apprentice, to the board a decade after commencing his training.
Established 19 years ago, ADS Laser Cutting has experienced sustained growth, boasting a diverse portfolio of global clients. Zeke Keates, who joined the firm as its first apprentice in 2013, recently ascended to the role of Business Support Director.
The most recent additions to the company’s apprentice cohort are Sam Poole and Luke Littlejohns, both enrolled in the fabrication department to complete their Level Three Metal Fabricator qualification.
Based at the iconic Fox’s Glacier Mint factory, ADS Laser Cutting aims to expand further by offering training roles in both the fabrication team and the administrative side of the business.
Duncan Keates, Joint Managing Director at ADS Laser Cutting, emphasized the positive impact of investing in apprentices over the past decade. Increased productivity and team loyalty have been observed, contributing to the apprentices becoming integral members of the ADS team. Keates expressed the firm’s commitment to progressively enhancing its investment in apprenticeships and looks forward to welcoming new trainees in the upcoming months.
Luke Littlejohns, who joined ADS Laser Cutting in February 2021, was drawn to the firm due to its commitment to ongoing investment in technology and staff development. He highlighted the company’s impressive growth rate and advanced machinery as key factors influencing his decision to join.
Sam Poole, on a Level Three apprenticeship since November 2022, emphasized the team’s dedication to high-quality standards and detailed work. Poole praised the supportive environment, encouraging apprentices to achieve more each day while receiving ample assistance.
As ADS Laser Cutting continues its expansion and invests in young talent, the firm’s commitment to apprenticeships serves not only to address skills gaps in a competitive market but also to foster a skilled and loyal workforce for sustained growth.
