Private investor Rcapital has successfully completed the acquisition of FGP Group, an aerospace and defence engineering business based in Weymouth and Yeovil. The deal, which involved the acquisition from 126 individual shareholders who were participants in the Cyrus Secured Loans Precision Engineering EIS Fund, secures over 200 jobs in Dorset.
The FGP Group includes FGP Systems Limited, a Weymouth-based precision engineering business providing high-tolerance machining, turning, and fabrication services to blue-chip aerospace and defence clients. It also comprises FGP Lufton Ltd in Yeovil, manufacturing aerospace parts, and Ramp Surface Coatings, a successful surface treatments and coatings business.
FGP Group serves major aerospace programs such as Airbus A350 and A320, Boeing 737 and 787, and defence platforms like the Eurofighter and F35. The existing management team will continue leading the business, with Rcapital providing support and expertise in the aerospace, defence, and precision engineering sectors.
Rcapital’s track record in these sectors includes investments in Bromford Precision Solutions, Trac Precision Solutions, Nasmyth Group, and Surface Technology International. The acquisition aligns with Rcapital’s strategy to strengthen and position FGP Group for long-term growth in the industry.
