The Engineering Technology Group (ETG) is expanding its offerings by introducing a new ‘Fabrication Division’ to address the growing demand for comprehensive manufacturing solutions. Andrew Smith Hughes, a seasoned professional with a background in mechanical and electrical engineering in the Royal Navy, has been appointed as the Product Manager for this new division.
ETG, known for its innovative multi-axis machining solutions, aims to cater to the complex manufacturing challenges faced by businesses, from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to small subcontract manufacturers. The Fabrication Division will encompass a diverse range of products and tailored services, with the VLB Group being the first brand introduced under the ETG Fabrication Division.
Andrew Smith Hughes brings a wealth of experience to his role, having served in the military and subsequently worked as a service and sales engineer for a leading tube bending machine tool manufacturer. His career path includes key account management and directorial roles, focusing on the growth of businesses in the sheet metal, tube manufacturing, and fabrication sector.
In his capacity as the Product Manager for Fabrication at ETG, Andrew Smith Hughes will lead the integration of the new division into the ETG business structure and drive solutions for the industry. The ETG Fabrication Division aims to fill a market gap by providing turnkey projects in the fabrication sector, offering a unique and exciting opportunity for industry growth and innovation.
Andrew expressed his enthusiasm for joining ETG, stating, “The ethos of ETG to deliver turnkey projects is a business model that has been overlooked in the fabrication market until now. This huge market gap provides a major opportunity for ETG to service the fabrication industry to levels never before seen – this makes the new ETG enterprise a remarkably exciting opportunity for the industry.”
The VLB Group, experts in tube bending and cold roll forming, will be featured as part of the ETG Fabrication Division. They will showcase their products and solutions at MACH 2024, scheduled from April 15-19 at the Birmingham NEC. Andrew Smith Hughes will be present at the event to introduce the new ETG business division and discuss the latest offerings from the VLB Group available to UK manufacturers.
