Heidenhain has unveiled the latest iteration of its TNC7 CNC control system, featuring the advanced Version 18 software and updated hardware designs. This innovative solution is positioned to address contemporary challenges faced by industries, including energy conservation, carbon emission reduction, competitiveness, and ensuring a dependable automated manufacturing process.
The TNC7, initially showcased at EMO Milan, is now being highlighted at Hannover, Germany, with its latest enhancements. Notable among these upgrades is the expansion of the control’s hardware portfolio. Alongside the original 24-inch version, a new 19-inch variant with a compact touchscreen has been introduced. Additionally, the TNC7 basic model, featuring a 16-inch touchscreen designed for 3+2-axis machines, has been unveiled.
The TNC7 basic model offers a comprehensive package of options, incorporating key TNC7 features such as DCM collision monitoring, OCM trochoidal milling, and MAS 6D graphically supported setup. Version 18 software enhancements have been integrated based on customer feedback, aimed at optimizing process reliability and user-friendliness.
The TNC7’s touchscreen interface facilitates intuitive operation akin to a tablet or smartphone, allowing users to tap, swipe, and zoom effortlessly. Context-sensitive menus and cross-operating-system design further enhance usability, enabling seamless integration with Windows applications and facilitating data incorporation into part programs. With intelligent user support features, the TNC7 caters to novices and seasoned professionals alike, expediting proficiency in machining operations.
While touchscreen functionality is a hallmark of the TNC7, Heidenhain recognizes that not all users prefer this interface. Therefore, the TNC7 is also available with an operating panel, catering to the preferences of experienced TNC experts. The expanded hardware lineup includes 16-inch and 19-inch variants, alongside the original 24-inch version, all boasting full-HD screen resolution.
Efficiency in machine setup is paramount for achieving high first-part efficiency and reducing non-productive time. The TNC7 addresses this need with graphically supported functions for 6D workholding and workpiece setup, streamlining setup processes and enhancing energy efficiency. The inclusion of Optimized Contour Milling (OCM) further enhances productivity and tool longevity by automatically calculating the best trochoidal milling strategy for pockets and islands of any shape.
Live demonstrations at the Heidenhain exhibit at MACH showcase the TNC7’s capabilities across various machining tasks, emphasizing time savings achieved through its advanced functions.
