Oshkosh Defense, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, recently participated in the Modern Day Marine show held in Washington, D.C. from April 30 to May 2, 2024, where it unveiled its latest innovations in military vehicle technology.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the introduction of the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) 4×4 Technology Demonstrator. This vehicle is a compact and agile version of Oshkosh Defense’s renowned MTVR, designed to offer exceptional all-terrain mobility, enhanced safety features, and increased mission flexibility on the modern battlefield. The MTVR 4×4 Technology Demonstrator represents Oshkosh’s commitment to providing cutting-edge tactical wheeled vehicles to the U.S. Marine Corps as part of ongoing modernization efforts.
In addition to the MTVR 4×4 Technology Demonstrator, Oshkosh Defense showcased the advanced capabilities of the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires), developed specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps. ROGUE-Fires is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) built upon the extreme off-road mobility and payload capacity of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV). Leveraging Oshkosh’s advanced autonomous vehicle technologies, ROGUE-Fires supports Ground-Based Anti-Ship Missile (GBASM) operations, offering versatile deployment options in teleoperated or fully autonomous modes with various weapon payloads.
Oshkosh Defense secured a significant contract related to ROGUE-Fires, receiving a delivery order valued at $40 million for the procurement of these unmanned vehicles to be utilized in the Navy/Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System. This contract underscores Oshkosh’s role in providing innovative solutions to support critical maritime defense operations.
The announcement of this contract follows Oshkosh Defense’s successful low-rate initial production approval from the Marine Corps Systems Command in October 2023, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge technologies that enhance mission effectiveness and operational capabilities for the U.S. military.
Overall, Oshkosh Defense’s participation in the Modern Day Marine show underscores its leadership in advancing military vehicle technology and highlights its dedication to supporting the evolving needs of the U.S. Marine Corps through the development of innovative and mission-ready solutions.
